Uncertainty analysis of the specific absorption rate induceed in a phantom using a stochastic spectral collocation method
Uncertainty analysis of human exposure to radio waves is studied with a spectral approach of stochastic collocation methods. This approach allows determining in an efficient way the statistical moments of the output variable, the specific absorption rate, with respect to uncertain input parameters. Polynomial chaos expansions are used for the random output, and the spectral coefficients are determined by projection or regression. These techniques are used with an electromagnetic solver based on a finite difference time domain scheme. The convergence of the statistical moments is analyzed for two case studies. Global sensitivity is also analyzed for the uncertain position of a cellular phone in the close vicinity of a human head model.

SAR evaluation by modal decomposition using induced near-field of equivalent current sources
Modal expansion of the electric field induced on a head model by a cellular phone is proposed. This technique used equivalent currents on a surface according to Huygens principle. Using Singular Value Decomposition technique, we are able to determine the modes excited by these equivalent sources in a lossy media and to expand the E-field in terms of local modes in the media. Finally, the specific absorption rate (SAR) is directly evaluated.

Near-field modal decomposition using Huygens' principle and equivalent sources
A modal expansion of the electric field induced within a lossy medium by an arbitrary antenna is proposed. The technique is based on equivalence theorem or Huygens principle. Equivalent sources on a surface are defined to represent an arbitrary antenna. Using Singular Value Decomposition, we are able to determine the orthonormal modes that can be used to decompose the E-field. The basis can then be applied for the measurement of the field distribution within a lossy medium for e.g. Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) measurement.
